2024 - Summer Registration

This registration is for all ages 5 - 15 for Moorhead Youth Baseball. Cal Ripken League is ages 5 - 12. Babe Ruth League is ages 13 - 15. Registration deadline is Sunday, March 1st, 2024. There is a family maximum expenditure of $1,000. If your total registration will be more than the family max, please email the office for a discount code. Due to limitations in the registration settings, the site will not automatically limit the amount.

We will be using the Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth age chart. You will register for the age your player will be as of May 1st, 2024. You will only be allowed to register for the correct age according to the Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth age chart. Any player wishing to play at a different age group will need to appeal to the baseball committee. Please email or call the office to start the process.

We will have a dedicated travel team for ages 9 - 12. These teams will go through a tryout process, will stay together all season and will play a Cal Ripken schedule and 4 - 6 tournaments. Those that aren't on the travel team may still participate in tournaments if they choose.

Ages:

If a player would like to try out for travel baseball, the player must register for the appropriate age using the Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken age chart and indicate their interest in travel during registration.

Ages 5/6 (Registration deadline is April 14th)

Game and practice days will be Monday and Wednesday evenings at a time TBD. Games will be against other Moorhead teams.
Teams will be formed based on teammate preferences then school/geography
Season begins the first week of June and runs through the end of July.
Teams will practice together and run through drills and skill stations.
Coach pitch league. This is not T-Ball.
The baseball used is the Easton Soft Stitch cloth ball. It is slightly lighter than a baseball and much softer to ensure player safety.
Jersey and cap are provided. The only required equipment is a baseball glove and batting helmet. Optional equipment is white baseball pants, rubber or molded cleats, batting gloves.

Ages 7 & 8

Unless we have a pre-submitted team roster, teams will be formed by the coaches based on player experience and skill level into American League team and National League teams.
Teams will play in the Red River Valley League (RRVL) against teams from Moorhead, Fargo, West Fargo, and surrounding communities. All games will be in Moorhead, Fargo, or West Fargo.
Team will have two games per week and are encouraged to hold at least one practice per week as well. Another option is to hold a practice before a 7:30 scheduled game.
Real baseballs are used. Jersey and cap are provided. The only required equipment is a baseball glove and batting helmet. Optional equipment is white baseball pants, rubber or molded cleats, batting gloves & bat.

Ages 9 - 12

Schedule:

NO REGULAR SEASON FRIDAY NIGHT GAMES FOR ANY AGE DIVISION (this does not apply to Travel teams or optional tournaments)
The baseball season will begin the last week of April and end in late July.
RRVL teams play approximately a 20 game interlocking league schedule with Moorhead, Fargo, West Fargo and surrounding area teams.
Due to field availability, games may not be able to be made up. Teams are encouraged to try to make up cancelled games, especially if able to play on weekends when fields have more availability.
Required equipment is glove, batting helmet, rubber or molded cleats, white pants with black side piping. Optional equipment includes bat, batting gloves,

Game Nights (Red River Valley League):

5U & 6U: Tuesday & Thursday
7U: Monday & Wednesday
8U: Tuesday & Thursday
9U & 10U: Monday & Wednesday
11U & 12U: Tuesday & Thursday
13U: Monday and/or Wednesday
14/15U: Monday through Thursday (schedule will be released in April, pending field availability)

Season Tentative Start Dates (Red River Valley League):

May 13: 7U, 9U, & 10U
May 14: 8U, 11U & 12U
May 20: 13U
May 21: 5/6U & 14/15U

TRAVEL TEAMS (available for ages 9 thru 15): (If interested in trying out, please indicate so during registration)

Must go through a try-out process
Must be registered by February 15h
High level of commitment
Will play 35-45 games, including weekend tournaments
Weekday games for 9 - 12 will be against other area travel teams in the Roger Maris division of RRVL.
Season start/end: April-July
Can expect to play in 4-6 tournaments, including State Tournament
9&10 YO: 60' bases, 46' mound; no leading off, can steal once the ball crosses the plate
11&12 YO: 70' bases, 50' mound; leading off is allowed
13,14, 15 YO: 90' bases, 60'6" mound
Those selected to a team will incur an additional fee to cover tournament costs.
13 - 15 will play an independent schedule and weekend tournaments on the Babe Ruth side as well as Gopher State (MYAS.)

Ages 13 - 15

Teams will be formed in late March / early April. First tournament will be scheduled for the end of April.
There will be a dedicated travel team at each age level
2nd teams & 3rd teams at each age will play in the RRVL in either the American or National League depending on number of teams and skill level.
2nd teams will also participate in at least 2 weekend tournaments
3rd teams may participate in tournaments if they like. If not, there is a year-end NIT tournament in Fargo.
Metal cleats are allowed at ages 13+. BBCOR bats (drop 3) or USA bats are allowed.
One uniform and cap will be provided that the player will keep. Teams may also purchase a second uniform from our uniform provider.

Coaches/Team Managers:

If you're interested in coaching or being a team manager with Moorhead Youth Baseball, please select the Head Coach, Assistant Coach, or Parent Coordinator option when getting to the team staff portion.
All coaches will have the opportunity to create their own teams by submitting a list of players to the office by March 1st. All other players will be placed on teams with consideration given to competition/skill level, school affiliation, and neighborhoods.
When filling out the 2024 summer player registration, please select the volunteer role to show you're interested in coaching.
In order to complete the volunteer role, you will need to be logged into your account, from there you will need to go to view account and on the left-hand side of the page you will see 'volunteer role', after selecting volunteer role you will see an option to select 'find volunteer roles', once selected please follow the steps provided. If you have already completed the summer player registration, you can still go back into your account and select this option.
This MUST be completed as ALL communication will come from the volunteer contact list.
